The Soviet regime was not monolithic. There were different stages of Soviet rule.
We can not talk about the phenomenon of the monolithic Soviet legacy. There were the most bloody and terrible periods(including Stalin's crimes against humanity, in spite of his glorification in Russia) and there were later the periods that had a human form.
The Soviet legacy has changed with the replacement of its leaders.
Perhaps the Soviet legacy in some of its history not completely rethought.
It really had its positive aspects. They say that the Finnish education system and French medicine largely borrowed their methods from the Soviet legacy. Well, quite a few older people recall the Soviet era with nostalgia.In hospitals the people were not looking for treatment from the tens of thousands of dollars. The quality surgery could cost the chicken, a thorough examination of the patient could cost a chocolate. And even these signs of gratitude were not necessary. There were many positives, I'm not talking about the continuous negative and total demonization of soviet heritage.
But I do not believe that the later Soviet Union was good. I mean that without a doubt there are a systems better than totalitarian communism and gangster-capitalism.
Some people on the west think that ''socialism could provide its citizens with a life of peace and dignity'', but the constant zinc coffins from Afghanistan and other hot spots consistently proved the quite opposite. But from a social point of view, this system did not work for a few people and was still taking care of many social needs of the people. But in general, people pretended that they work and the government pretended that the flesh of money. And there was certainly a lot of lies and external ostentation, then the lie has become so obvious that there was nowhere to go further.
The problem is that this lie mutates. And there are attempts in another form to do with her special way. ''Russkiy Myr'', "special unique excellent way of Orthdox civilization''. against the backdrop of the depravity of this geo-political power, I do not believe in such claims. United Europe is much more attractive.
Do not forget that Ukrainian revolution started because Yanukovich did not sign the agreement with the EU. Therefore,Yanukovych's regime was overthrown. Educated youth throughout Ukraine is pro-European and pro-Ukrainian. But Ukrainians did not expect the Russian aggression. We never thought that the dream of a united Europe will turn for us at this price.
Look at the EU GDP. The values of the European Union are in the spirit of modern times. Culturally, we are no worse than the citizens of the Balkan countries, there is no other way but to unite with Europe, and I think that even many entrepreneurs and educated young people even in the Crimea today аfter exploring the delights of real Russkiy Myr would confirm it.
